Staircase to the Moon Dates
Staircase to the Moon is a natural phenomenon which occurs when a full moon rises over the exposed tidal flats of Roebuck Bay. The Staircase to the Moon happens 2 - 3 days a month between March and October.
The Town beach precinct is a great vantage spot to view the Staircase to the Moon. Another popular spot is The Mangrove Hotel Resort, who often have live entertainment on Staircase night. Other local spots include the Broome Golf Club, the Roebuck Bay lookout or take a short walk across the road from Matso's Broome.
Staircase to the Moon Markets at Town Beach (Hamersley Street) are held from 4pm to 8pm on selected dates. Here you can sample local produce, buy hand made products, a variety of international food, and enjoy the sounds of local entertainers. Night Markets also take place every Thursday night, usually from June to September. Map link for location of the Staircase Markets here.
Note: Visibility may vary depending on the local weather, tides, sunset and moonrise.

Fusion Moonrise - only happens twice a year!
More dates to come in 2025!
Celebrate the full moon as it rises above Chinatown and sits spectacularly atop the Fusion Artwork
This only happens twice a year, so feel free to head down and take some photos and enjoy Broome’s town centre. The Fusion sculpture was installed as part of the Chinatown Revitalisation Project, which was co-funded by the Shire of Broome and State Government.
The Fusion sculpture is on the roundabout at the intersection of Napier and Carnarvon Streets.
The Shire of Broome provides more information about this event.
