Broome has an amazing history and the local museums and art galleries are the best place to discover more.

We have the Broome Historical Museum which is packed to the rafters with vintage and historical items and all for a very small entry fee (children under 16 are free!). The museum will appeal to visitors of all ages and lets you step back in time, be engaged and educated as you browse the carefully curated displays. This significant collection is spread across three buildings, including the heritage award winning Sailmaker’s Shed.

Experience a fascinating insight to Broome’s unique heritage at Pearl Luggers, in the heart of Broome’s ‘Chinatown. The SSJG Heritage Centre is a place for sharing of social history related to the Sisters of St John of God and Aboriginal people of the Kimberley.

The natural colours of the Kimberley have attracted many artists and photographers who have vibrant galleries in Broome. We have various photographic galleries and traditional Aboriginal art galleries.

Black Stump Gallery offers modern, contemporary art.

Krim Benterrak offers art from the studio and often you can see the artist in action.

The Nagula Jarndu Designs shopfront is an attraction for tourists and visitors who seek locally made unique Indigenous textiles, arts and crafts.

Broome Time Art Gallery is located at Broome Time Resort and features a wide variety of Kimberley art, traditional and contemporary Indigenous paintings and artefacts, wood and boab nut carvings, hand crafted didgeridoos, books and gifts.

Ardi'ol Arts & Culture, located at Ardyaloon on the Dampier Peninsula, have an art gallery to pur­chase authen­tic local art as a small take­away to remem­ber your Ardi’ol expe­ri­ence. Cul­tur­al arte­facts, fish­ing shirts, can­vas prints, carved shells and Boab nuts, plus local bush med­i­cines for sale.

Redbill Studio Gallery is a unique and charm­ing art space locat­ed in the scenic beer gar­den of Mat­so’s Brew­ery in Roe­buck Bay.

Artlandish Aboriginal Art Gallery is located in Kununurra, East Kimberley, but they also have an online shop available for customers to purchase online.

Mowanjum Art & Cultural Centre is located in Derby (about 220kms via National Highway 1) and it is well worth a day trip from Broome.

Sun Pictures is filled with historical relics and movie posters from the past. Located in Chinatown, Sun Pictures (also known as Sun Cinema or Sun Picture Gardens) is the world's oldest operating outdoor picture gardens.
