Be the calm before the storm - Tropical cyclones and flooding in our North West.

Part of our role, as the local Broome Visitor Centre, is to share important information with all travellers coming into the Broome and Kimberley region. We experience a tropical climate over the Summer months. This requires extra planning before you arrive and during your holiday, particularly for travellers who are inexperienced when it comes to the weather and road conditions we experience between November and April.

We want you to be the calm before the storm. Plan and prepare, so if needed, you and your family will be calm and ready to do the right thing and stay safe.

Simple things like checking the weather forecasts, packing supplies, organising an emergency kit, saving website links and important contact information will help you to stay informed. It takes ten minutes to download and read the two page flyer produced by DFES.

Cyclones can be severe, and hit WA every year with destructive winds, torrential rainfall, flooding, dangerous storm surges and heavy swells.

Your safety is your responsibility. Follow the advice below to get prepared, stay informed and keep safe during the cyclone season.
