Sustainability Workshops
Join us for a morning of sustainability, soil health, and community connection at the Broome Courthouse Markets on Saturday, 3 May, as part of International Composting Awareness Week.
From 8am to 11am, enjoy a range of hands-on workshops and demonstrations designed to help you turn everyday kitchen scraps into garden gold. The morning begins with a live Bokashi Workshop led by Wendy Albert from Windjana Wellness & Sustainability Services, running from 8.00am to 9.30am.
From 9.30am to 10.30am, the Incredible Edible Broome will talk about seedlings and what to plant once your soil is ready.
To finish the morning, from 10.30am to 11.00am, meet Heidi Andrews from Heidi's Hatchery. She will share insights into backyard chicken keeping and showcase her self-sustaining mealworm farm from The Bug Factory – an engaging educational tool used in classrooms to teach lifecycles and provide a nutritious treat for birds, lizards, and poultry.
All attendees will receive free seeds and seedlings to help kickstart their sustainability journey at home. Come along with your questions and curiosity – and don’t miss the chance to meet some friendly chooks on display!
