This is great for peo­ple who want to watch their friends and fam­i­ly enjoy the expe­ri­ence but would pre­fer to watch from the deck rather than jump in with our big spot­ty friends! Observers can still enjoy a snorkel on the reef in the morn­ing and also the after­noon if time per­mits. But can­not swim with a whale­shark in any circumstance.

Sur­round­ed by an abun­dance of coral gar­dens, rocky ledges and intrigu­ing dive sites, the Muiron Islands are locat­ed about 10nm north east of Exmouth. Keep your eyes open dur­ing the 45 minute trip across to the Islands for ospreys, shear­wa­ters, tur­tles, man­ta rays, dol­phins, dugongs, and dur­ing their migra­tion, hump­back whales.

We have a wide range of dive sites with a max­i­mum depth of 20m and usu­al­ly only gen­tle cur­rents, the dive sites around the Muiron Islands are suit­able for all lev­els of snorkel­ers and divers. Swim-throughs and ledges pro­vide plen­ty of places to search for shrimps, nudi­branchs, eels, juve­nile angelfish and oth­er timid crea­tures. In mid-water and against the reefs look for friend­ly pota­to cod, large rankin cod, tur­tles, nurse sharks, soft coral gar­dens, anemones, clams and 1000’s of dart­ing, colour­ful reef fish. Late in the year, man­ta rays grace sev­er­al of our dive sites, too.

Whale Swim­ming Par­tic­i­pants — THIS TOUR IS FOR ​‘GOOD SNORKELLERS ONLY’! 

We Will Pri­mar­i­ly ONLY Tar­get Hump­back Whales for this Tour. 

How­ev­er If the weath­er con­di­tions are not suit­able, or vis­i­bil­i­ty is low, the Back­up Plan will be to look for Whale­sharks and this is ONLY if we can’t find suit­able Whales.

Being wild ani­mals every day is unique and our focus is on hump­back whales, but the vis­i­bil­i­ty con­di­tions and ani­mal behav­iours are not always just right enough to swim with hump­back whales. We don’t know until we get out there what will be acces­si­ble, how the whales behave or even if there is a whale­shark in the same area as a back­up plan. What we do know is that we will have small groups, our plane and the best crew to get the best results pos­si­ble on the day.

From June until Octo­ber we are autho­rized to oper­ate tours where guests may enter the water when the whales are relaxed, with a max­i­mum group size of 7 swim­mers plus a guide & Video­g­ra­ph­er in the water at the same time. While non-swim­ming guests observe the whales from the boat whilst manoeu­vring as close as 75 meters! This is clos­er than any oth­er whale watch­ing cruise in Aus­tralia. This will give you a very spe­cial view for non-swim­mers to enjoy the whales as they dis­play their nat­ur­al behaviours. 

FREE Video & Pic­tures of the day Includ­ed. We will copy these onto one 8Gb sou­venir USB for your book­ing. Pic­tures and Video will be avail­able at our shop in the Mall next to the bak­ery, after 9am the fol­low­ing day. If you are leav­ing ear­ly we can post the USB at the nom­i­nal postage charge for your home location.

The swim­mers, with the care­ful watch of their guide, will slide into the water and approach the Hump­back Whale. We have strict dis­tance guide­lines and safe­ty is para­mount in these very spe­cial encoun­ters. Swim­mers can approach as close as 30 meters from the whale which will pro­vide an excel­lent sur­face view of the ani­mals and allow the swim­mers to hear their beau­ti­ful songs. The whales are curi­ous and are allowed to approach us with­in 15 metres giv­ing us a unique close encounter. Our ded­i­cat­ed spot­ter plane pilot per­son­al­ly talks via radio, to the in-water guide to ensure a great interaction.

Before enter­ing the water near a whale or whale­shark, swim­mers will be required to take a morn­ing quick in water swim­ming assess­ment as required by our license con­di­tions. You must be phys­i­cal­ly fit, over 13years old, MUST be a good snorkeller and have snorkelled with­in the past 6 months to be eli­gi­ble to enter the water with a whale.

Whale­shark observers will expe­ri­ence a snorkel on the beau­ti­ful Ninga­loo Reef and will observe the whale­sharks from the boat clos­er, than any oth­er tour. If there are swim­ming spots still avail­able you may be per­mit­ted to upgrade on the day of the tour.

Our Dis­cov­er SCU­BA Div­ing Expe­ri­ence is per­fect for those who do not have time to com­plete an entire PADI Open Water Course and for those who just wish to have a taste of div­ing. The Dis­cov­er Scu­ba Div­ing expe­ri­ence with us will include dis­cussing some basic dive the­o­ry with your instruc­tor, intro­duc­tion to dive equip­ment and two boat dives. We will vis­it 2 dif­fer­ent sites, the same dive sites that our cer­ti­fied divers enjoy so you’ll know you are get­ting the best the Ninga­loo Reef has to offer.

Sur­round­ed by an abun­dance of coral gar­dens, rocky ledges and intrigu­ing dive sites, the Muiron Islands are locat­ed about 10nm north east of Exmouth. Keep your eyes open dur­ing the trip across to the Islands for ospreys, shear­wa­ters, tur­tles, man­ta rays, dol­phins, seasnakes, and dur­ing their migra­tion, hump­back whales.

We have a wide range of dive sites with a per­fect depth of 12m and usu­al­ly only gen­tle cur­rents, the dive sites around the Muiron Islands are suit­able for all lev­els of snorkel­ers and divers. Swim-throughs and ledges pro­vide plen­ty of places to search for shrimps, nudi­branchs, eels, juve­nile angelfish and oth­er timid crea­tures. In mid-water and against the reefs look for friend­ly pota­to cod, large rankin cod, tur­tles, nurse sharks, soft coral gar­dens, anemones, clams and 1000’s of dart­ing, colour­ful reef fish. Late in the year, man­ta rays grace sev­er­al of our dive sites, too.

Sit back for a cruise as we trav­el out to our var­i­ous sites around the Ninga­loo area. We get to snorkel with gor­geous colour­ful fish, corals, with oppor­tune sight­ings of Tur­tles & much more! Then we often ven­ture out to look for man­tas or whales, dur­ing the sea­son, from the deck of one of our big sta­ble boats. Get ready for an added bonus of hump­back Whale watch­ing in Whale sea­son. Mega Fau­na watch­ers will expe­ri­ence a short snorkel on the beau­ti­ful Ninga­loo Reef and will observe the Hump­back whales or whale­sharks only from the boat, but clos­er than any oth­er whale watch­ing tour. If there are any swim­ming spots still avail­able you may be per­mit­ted to pay to upgrade on the day of the tour, but con­di­tions apply.

Before you Book 

A $100 deposit per per­son holds your book­ing with full pay­ment due a min­i­mum of 14 days pri­or to your tour.

* Cer­ti­fied Div­er must have a logged dive with­in the past 12 months to par­tic­i­pate on our div­ing tours. If you do not have a recent dive, you’ll need to com­plete a refresh­er with us before head­ing out on the ocean dives. * Refresh­er ses­sions are a sim­ple review of basic dive plan­ning, equip­ment, the­o­ry and dive skills. These ses­sions usu­al­ly take 1.5−3 hours and include time in the pool, so you will need to wear your bathers and bring a tow­el. We sched­ule our refresh­ers on demand. Refresh­ers are cur­rent­ly $99/​person.

Advance book­ings are essen­tial Dis­cov­er Scu­ba Div­ing. This includes the use of all the nec­es­sary equip­ment air fills, trans­fers from your in-town Exmouth accom­mo­da­tion and 2 boat dives. We require a min­i­mum of two par­tic­i­pants to con­duct our DSD pro­gram; in the unlike­ly event that we do not have a sec­ond per­son by 4:30pm the day before your sched­uled date you will have two options: 1 –you can pay an addi­tion­al fee and have a pri­vate one-on-one ses­sion or 2 — take a full refund.

The D.S.D. course is suit­able for every­one from 14 years old; those under 18 will need the writ­ten approval of a parent/​guardian and a dive med­ica for under 16 year old­sl. You do need to have basic swim­ming abil­i­ty. Div­ing med­icals are not required to par­tic­i­pate unless you have an indi­ca­tor such as (but not lim­it­ed to) asth­ma. Proof of Age required for any Seniors and Family/​Child Rates.

Sur­round­ed by an abun­dance of coral gar­dens, rocky ledges and intrigu­ing dive sites, the Out­er Reef or Muiron Islands are locat­ed about 20nm north east or around the west of Exmouth. Keep your eyes open dur­ing the 75 minute trip across to the Islands for ospreys, shear­wa­ters, tur­tles, man­ta rays, dol­phins, and dur­ing their migra­tion, hump­back whales.

We have a wide range of dive sites with a max­i­mum depth of 20m and usu­al­ly only gen­tle cur­rents, the dive sites around the Out­er Reef or Muiron Islands are suit­able for all lev­els of snorkel­ers (over Six years of age) and divers. Swim-throughs and ledges pro­vide plen­ty of places to search for shrimps, nudi­branchs, eels, juve­nile angelfish and oth­er timid crea­tures. In mid-water and against the reefs look for friend­ly pota­to cod, large rankin cod, tur­tles, nurse sharks, soft coral gar­dens, anemones, clams and 1000’s of dart­ing, colour­ful reef fish. Late in the year, man­ta rays grace sev­er­al of our dive sites, too. A med­ical Ques­tion­naire must be answered before tak­ing this tour. Please con­tact us for full details.

Please Note — This Is NOT an Exclu­sive Snorkel Only Tour. There maybe scu­ba divers onboard too. Snorkelling is in open ocean on coral atolls ris­ing from var­i­ous depths and reach­ing with­in 2 to 6M from the sur­face. In some areas the entry from the boat will be in 12m deep water and will require a snorkel over to the shal­low­er areas. The sur­face con­di­tions can be chop­py at times. Lev­el 2 snorkelling

For the Advanced Course, you will do Deep and Nav­i­ga­tion plus three elec­tives. Elec­tives you can choose may include some of the fol­low­ing: Under­wa­ter Pho­tog­ra­phy, Under­wa­ter Nat­u­ral­ist, Boat Div­er, Peak Per­for­mance Buoy­an­cy, Search & Recov­ery or Fish ID. 

We need a min­i­mum of two stu­dents to con­duct the course. If it is just you we can reg­is­ter you in our file as a per­son who is inter­est­ed and try to find anoth­er per­son to do the course with you. Or you my chose to pay extra for a 1 on 1 course

We include the use of mask, snorkel, fins, wet­suit, BCD, reg­u­la­tor, tanks, weights, all of your tank fills, com­pli­men­ta­ry pick up and drop off to your in-town Exmouth accom­mo­da­tion and your cer­ti­fi­ca­tion fees. Also the PADI Adven­tures in
Div­ing Man­u­al is includ­ed and is yours to keep. Each stu­dent for our Advanced Course must have the fol­low­ing: Open Water or equiv­a­lent cer­ti­fi­ca­tion card, a log book, a tim­ing device and a logged dive from with­in the past 12 months.

Learn to Dive with us here at Exmouth Dive Cen­tre with our 3 day PADI Open Water Course and obtain a qual­i­fi­ca­tion that allows you to dive any­where in the world! 

Pri­or to this 3 day course stu­dents com­plete online Padi dive the­o­ry, via a Padi email Link. Dur­ing the three day course we will test your pre-learnt the­o­ry, train in the pool on the first day & then 2 days of dives to com­plete four open water ocean dives — all of the ocean dives will be usu­al­ly from one of our dive ves­sels. This means that not only will you gain the skills that you need to dive safe­ly and enjoy­ably, but you will get to vis­it some spec­tac­u­lar dive sites and see amaz­ing sea crea­tures from your very first ocean train­ing dive! We pro­vide lots of indi­vid­ual atten­tion so that by the time you are ready for the ocean dives you will be able to con­cen­trate on enjoy­ing your­self while you revise the skills you learned in the class­room and in the pool…our instruc­tors are extreme­ly friend­ly, knowl­edge­able and fun!!!

Please note that there is about 5 – 8 hours of study includ­ing knowl­edge reviews to com­plete and a DVD to watch pri­or to start­ing your course.There are two options: first option is to receive an online ver­sion of the open water course man­u­al via email and a link to watch the required videos online. You will do your knowl­edge reviews online and required to present these on the morn­ing of your course, the Final exam can be done on-line too, or lat­er in the class­room. This option is at no extra charge.

Sec­ond option, If you arrive in Exmouth a few days pri­or to your start date you will have time to col­lect a real book, watch the DVD and do your home­work. If not we can post the book to your home address in Aus­tralia. This usu­al­ly costs about $18 -$25 and we can just add this to your out­stand­ing bal­ance if you need your book before you arrive in Exmouth. 

The alter­na­tive to doing your home­work with the PADI Open water man­u­al real book or on-line book is to com­plete via e‑learning which you can sign up through PADI and costs an addi­tion­al amount on top of the course cost, but if you reg­is­ter our store num­ber 8165 as the store where you will be com­plet­ing the course with you will receive a par­tial cred­it towards your e‑learning course. You do all the the­o­ry,
knowl­edge reviews and final exam online, it is more inter­ac­tive & stream­lined, so you don’t need to spend as much time in the class­room and you save you valu­able hol­i­day time for more excit­ing adventures.

We need a min­i­mum of two peo­ple to run our Open Water Cours­es (some extra Fees may apply) so please con­tact us at the store on 9949 1201 if you are trav­el­ling by your­self. Med­icals are not cur­rent­ly reli­ably avail­able in Exmouth so you must get your med­ical com­plet­ed to the cor­rect stan­dard before you arrive. Refunds are not avail­able if you are unable to obtain a medical. 

A refer­ral is only avail­able to those who have com­plet­ed all the­o­ry & all pool ses­sions from a pre­vi­ous course, pri­or to com­ing to Exmouth & require just ocean dives( You must also bring your cer­ti­fy­ing PIC).

Please make sure you give your­self a bit of flex­i­bil­i­ty dur­ing your vis­it! While we love moth­er nature, some­times the weath­er does­n’t go to plan and we need an extra day to fin­ish off your course. :)

Sur­round­ed by an abun­dance of coral gar­dens, rocky ledges and intrigu­ing dive sites, the Muiron Islands are locat­ed about 10nm north east of Exmouth. Keep your eyes open dur­ing the 45 minute trip across to the Islands for ospreys, shear­wa­ters, tur­tles, man­ta rays, dol­phins, dugongs, and dur­ing their migra­tion, hump­back whales.

We have a wide range of dive sites with a max­i­mum depth of 20m and usu­al­ly only gen­tle cur­rents, the dive sites around the Muiron Islands are suit­able for all lev­els of snorkel­ers and divers. Swim-throughs and ledges pro­vide plen­ty of places to search for shrimps, nudi­branchs, eels, juve­nile angelfish and oth­er timid crea­tures. In mid-water and against the reefs look for friend­ly pota­to cod, large rankin cod, tur­tles, nurse sharks, soft coral gar­dens, anemones, clams and 1000’s of dart­ing, colour­ful reef fish. Late in the year, man­ta rays grace sev­er­al of our dive sites, too.

All cancellations made 4 days prior incur a 20% cancellation fee.

No refunds for cancellations with less than 48 hours notice. Date changes are subject to availability and must be made 48 hours in advance and are subject to availability on the newly desired date.

Tours cancelled by Exmouth Diving & Whaleshark Centre due to weather or other unforseable conditions will result in re-booking.

All divers must meet the following criteria before scuba diving:

1) be certified as Open Water or higher (you will need to show your card!)

2) have a dive within the past 12 months OR have completed a refresher within the past 30 days OR complete a refresher session with us before heading out on the ocean dives.

Swimmers on our whaleshark tour must have a basic level of swimming ability and be able climb a ladder.

Refreshers ($90) are available every day with 24 hrs notice.
